I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me, i wanna stretch one of my lobes up to about 6-8mm. I was just wondering how the best way to go about it is. I've slowly been adding more and more jewelery into the hole to stretch it enough to get the end of a claw in but i'm not sure about the claw part... how much to stretch by, if i can just do it really quick (like the whole lot in one go) or if it takes time...

Hi ok strecthing must be done slowly. you can get tapers or expanders cheapily anough and thats is the best thing to use for strecthing. You are better off going 2-3mm at a time strecthing it out won't be a proberlem but leave it to settle for 2-3 months. If you dont you could end up with a strangly shaped hole and i guess you would wather it be a clean round shape. you can find more good info here www.bodyamusement.co.uk/stretching.htmlthis has any info you may need Mullet

tapers are definately the best way to go with stretching, listen to your body and take care of it, my ears healed alot faster when i started taking daily vitamins, and dont skip gauges, other than that just have fun with it

Woah!! Nooo. You do not want to stretch 2-3mm at a time!!
It is recommended to only stretch 1 (ONE) mm at a time, with a minimum of 5 weeks in between...
Tapers are really the best way to go too.

I started with seven rounds of silver thread in one hole. I used the thread as a jewel for a whole winter few years ago. After I removed the thing the hole in my ear wasn't so round and small as it used to be.
Kinda naturally I started to stretch it (I wanted it to be round again) by first adding more and more regular studs to the hole and when the ear got used to being stretched (was 3-4mm) I started to use other things. My favourites are stumps of those sticks which you use to clean up your ears, at least here :) They're easy to make flat from the other end and that makes it easier to push the stump into the ear. No grease is needed. And they're cheaper than anything <:
I went up to 10mm, got bored and removed the plug I had made. Few weeks ago I warmed up again and I'm going for the 10mm again. The ear seems to be more easily stretched as it's the second time.
I don't believe in millimetres, I believe in listening the body and being careful. Only stupid people can really destroy their ears or piercings by stretching too much too fast. Don't get too greedy ._.

[glow=red,8,300]I agree with Saram. It all depends on the way your body reacts to damage. You might want to sit at a gauge for a month or a few weeks, depending on how it goes. Some people have more elastic skin than others. I personally went from a fourteen gauge in my PA to a six gauge in one week. But that's just me.[/glow]

Don't stretch 2-3mm at a time!! That's ridiculous.. Here's a guage chart, you go up ONE gauge at a time, and leave it at least a month before a new stretch, 2 months from 4g upwards. Do a sea salt soak twice daily (1/2 a teaspoon of sea salt, to half a pint of water does me) and, don't leave tapers in the hole, use surgical steel plugs..
Guage chart: 16g = 1.2mm 14g = 1.6mm 12g = 2mm 10g = 2.4mm 8g = 3.2mm 6g = 4mm 4g = 5mm 2g = 6mm 0g = 8mm 00g = 10mm

There is no EXTREME damage that could happen from skipping gauges. I'm not saying to do it, but I did from 12-6 (since its such a small size jump really), it did not hurt at all, there was no stress on my ears, and I also used all healing tips possible. If it really hurts, stop, and slow down.
Its a good idea to use some type of water based lube, like KY Jelly. (using non-lubericated tapers causes the skin to peel off, or get scraped)
Don't listen to the people who freak out about skipping gauges, but also... Don't do it all the time. If you try going from 12- say 6 and you had NO trouble. Than do it. But if you feel pain, or see ANY blood, stop and do it slower.
It wont cause massive damage by skipping unless you don't leave time to heal before your next stretch.
Listen to your lobes, you will know when you are going to fast.
One thing to know is that its quite fun stretching your lobes, if you do it fast, you will ruin the experience. Sometimes I wish I would have gone slower. Even though I did take 6 months to go from 12-0 gauge, it seems like the time flew by.
